Sixteenth session for thumb/wrist

After about 2.5 half months, I decided to consult Lee again because although there was further improvement, the pain didn't go away. In fact, I felt pain when I helped to lift mattress, with palm placed underneath it, and when I placed palm on the exercise mat, behind me, hand facing behind and lifted the wrist slightly.

Curiously, when I pulled thumb back, the pain at the base of the thumb was lesser than previously but if I held it for 10 counts, the wrist pain vanished. Lee said that it was a distraction 😅

He asked me to try a few things and one of them produced a puzzling result: one of the two ways I reproduced the wrist pain was to extend my hand forward, palm faced towards me and used the other hand to gently push the back of the palm towards me. However, as requested by Lee, I tried this with hand extended sideway, the pain was much less. He surmised that the posture of the shoulder/back was incorrect.

So unlike previous sessions, time was spent on massaging the muscles around the shoulder and top back right. Then tried some exercises. In the end, these were the adjustments to the exercise regime:

(1) Increase the weight of the first exercise from 3kg to 4kg.

(2) Lie facing down at edge of bed. Hold 2kg weight straight down. Lift up such that back is squeezed, close to body, upper arm still straight pointing down, and lift up to 90 degree. 3 sets of 10 reps.

(3) Open chest and squeeze the back. 3 sets of 10 reps.

(4) Forearm on wall 90 degree. Right leg forward. Turn body slightly to left to feel shoulder stretch. Hold for 10s. 3 sets of 10 reps.

Really hope this will be fixed before I go to Australia end of the year.
