Missing key details

In our WhasApp chat group, Ban's mother: Anyone free for lunch? Ban: Okay Ban's mother: *place the heart emoji on Ban's comment* That was done at 9.45am. But where are the two crucial details: time and venue? These will then determine the time of departure. I don't understand how people can just live without planning even just a little. At 11.45am, I was getting hungry and so had not choice but to get this lunch meeting going 😔

Assorted food #3

This is Quang noodle at An Viet. It cost RM 23.90 (RM 27.70 after tax and service charge). I asked for more vegetables fyi. It was quite delicious. The noodle reminded me of the thick pan mee. The tumeric taste was quite light and so I didn't get jelak even at the end. It's worth the price imo. It's actually a seasonal dish and technically it shouldn't be in the menu any more but it was still there when I was at An Viet recently. Ban had not been satisfied with how his air-fried chicken dish turned out until this. The inspiration came from the menu that came with the air fryer but that recipe asked for breadcrumbs, which we don't have and we were reluctant to buy a bag just for one dish. So I suggested oat as replacement. I stock up oat because I have some each night. The result was air-fried pre-brined chicken with pepper powder, coated with oat. It was good but I felt that it needed something to balance out the dryness and so I thought of Thai chilli sauce. A li

Lightning pain?

For more than 2 months, mum's headache has become more frequent. Then later she experienced "lightning pain" that traveled from the left side of her neck to her left eye and then to to top of her head when she clipped her nails on her left hand, and also while brushing her false teeth 😕 Since her appointment with the Neurology clinic at Penang GH's in a couple of months time, she chose to wait till then, rather than to go to the Emergency department to eventually get attended by a doctor from that clnic. Each time I was at Butterworth I checked on her about these. Fortunately, it didn't get worse and it didn't disrupt her daily activities except for her exercise, which she had to cut down significantly. Later at the clinic, the doctor took time (20 minutes, which is pretty long for consultation at GH) to ask her relevant questions. Since mum doesn't have any other symptoms and doesn't have cancer, diagnostic test such as CT scan was unnecessary at tha

Tried this new restaurant after having checked Google review. Ban ordered the Seafood Napolitana: He liked it. I didn't try it because I don't like tomato based sauce. My nephew ordered Carbonara Bacon: We both liked it. He also ordered vanilla milkshake, which I'm not a fan of: the ice wasn't blended. It was like drinking vanilla drink with ice. They did warn me when I ordered and my nephew was ok with it. I should have asked whether this was how they always makes it or that their machine malfunctioned that day. I ordered Cereal Chicken Chop: Clearly cornflakes were used and boy it was so delicious! First time I ever tried such dish. I asked to swap fries for mashed potato. Highly recommended. All 3 dishes cost RM 15.90 each, gross of tax and service charge. Cheap.

You are right

Me: Honey, can we clean house later? Ban: Yes, dear. Me: Honey, you're right about the- Ban: Yes, dear. Me: Why did you say yes? I haven't finished talking. Ban: Coz you said I was right *grinned* Me: *pretended to fling a spoonful of cereal with milk at him*

Cow Brother v3

Image
Cow Brother's stall reopened at Taman Megah but at the newly opened Hakka Legend kopitiam, manned by different people. Naturally, I had to try their Seremban beef noodle. I immediately asked for more peanuts, which were given without much fuss and no additional charge. The soup was great but unfortunately, that was the only good part. The noodle was bland and had measily number of beef pieces. Still had no pickled vegetable. Overall, noticeably worse than when they were at Megah Good Luck Restaurant , which in turn was worse than when they were at Damansara Uptown. I rather pay more (and eat less frequently) to dine at KBN .

Shoddy journalism #4

(Emphasis is mine, to show the mistakes) 1. Malaymail article "GEG: The end of social justice? — Farhan Amran". Sentence "If the Ministry of Health Malaysia, allowed the ‘guidelines’ to resolve the issue of tobacco use in the country in these ways alone, the main issues and effects of these issues would not be resolved.", "Good rules and controls should take precedence and this statement is supported by members who understand the key issues that should be resolved, banning, or supporting?", "According to him, although banning the sale and purchase of cigarettes to those born after 2007 is good, there must be a clear mechanism for chronic smokers to recover and recover.", "Trust in the commitment of today’s government to do things that are just, and fair is highly respected and lifted."  (I can't...don't even know where to start to correct these sentences. Please call 999.) 2. Malaymail article "Loke says DAP will decide on

Each time I passed by this restaurant, it was at least half-filled. It had good reviews too. I kept forgetting to try it and so one day when I did remember, I immediately suggested to Ban to dine there. We went there around 6pm, which is our usual dinner time but it's early for many people and so there was no problem in getting seats. There were quite a number of mains I wanted to try. In the end, I chose smoked salmon, avocado and eggs: It was delicious and unexpectedly filling. Quite a balanced taste: not too heavy or light. I was pleasantly surprised that there were two eggs. Ban ordered shakshuka, something that he heard of before (I hadn't): It was slightly spicy and sour. Not something I like but Ban loved it. Unfortunately, he had mild tummy ache thereafter. We speculated that he needed to take two capsules of multi-enzyme instead of only one when having this dish. We definitely would dine there again but sparingly because of its price: It's still worth it and so I r

Baldur's Gate 3: Pallock destroying goblins

Image
In my first run as a bard, I killed many goblins in the temple and poisoned many outside it. So that meant there were quite a number of them left alive.  I'm slowing down my bard's progress so as to allow Ban to catch up. He abandoned his first run which started about the same time as my bard run. To avoid spoilering him, I used earphones while playing my bard. Alternatively, I played my pallock (paladin + warlock or also known as lockadin by many players; the name pallock is an original invention by me iirc) which started about the same time as his second run. Naturally, his run is much further than my second run since I'm playing two playthroughs simultaneously. In my pallock run, I killed all goblins in Blighted Village easily. I negotiated with the ogres and left the two lovebirds alone in the barn. I didn't kill those between the village and the temple. As for those just outside the temple, I poisoned them. While my pallock was in conversation about the poisoning

Decided to try this place after reading Google reviews. Had an average rating of more than 4 stars.   The restaurant was clean, comfortable and cozy. Here was what I ordered: They were all quite good. First time I had soft shell crab with hirata bun. Delicious. The prices, however, were a little high: Not sure whether I want to go there again, given other choice of restaurants. Hmmm.
