Korean corn dog

Image
Ever since I watched Jinny's kitchen, I was keen to have a bite at this snack. I spotted these two at Paradigm Mall: Myeongdong had nice packaging as well as presentation of the cheese corn dog. It didn't have the sugar finishing like those in the tv show. The main problem, however, was that the cheese was a clump and it all came out, dislodged, with just one bite. The sausage used was the typical ordinary hot dog. So, ya, nothing special. Chunz's corn dog didn't have sugar finishing either. Its packaging was simpler but it was cheaper and more importantly it was much more delicious! The sausage wasn't the ordinary kind: it had slight peppery taste and some spices/herbs in it too. Might try their cheese corn dog one day.

Eyeing the end

Here's an update on my mum's retinal condition : I got to know from a pharmacist, who is a friend, that the eyedrop mum used, Nevanac, is meant for short-term usage. Hence, I asked mum to enquire with the doctor on when she can stop using it, given that she no longer has any discomfort. We're keen to end the appointment at Bukit Mertajam Hospital because it's so hard to find parking and driving within the hospital is quite harrowing due to its small road. During the appointment in May, doctor was fairly confident that there was no longer bleeding and swelling in the eye, from the eye check and scan, Still, after consulting another colleague (presumably their senior), they continued prescribing the eyedrop for another 3 months, to be on the safe side. So recently, I went with mum for the latest appointment. Despite reaching 10 minutes before her appointment at 9am, she had yet to be called in to register at 11am. This is unusually long, she told me, as it usually takes o

Citibank: Visa -> Mastercard (saga continued)

It didn't end with just one lost card : subsequent two replacement cards were also "returned undelivered". I didn't receive any calls from courier deliveryman. It wasn't in my mailbox. It's a total mystery and frustrating! I had confirmed with Citibank multiple times my address and I told them that I had no problem receiving cards from them at this address for more than 10 years. After the second lost card, I requested the card be sent via courier if the previous card was sent via normal mail (the officer didn't answer the question). Yet it was "returned undelivered". I was even provided the DHL tracking number by the customer service officer which showed that delivery attempt was made but failed (why???).  So, next I requested that the courier deliveryman to call me when they were about to deliver and to call me again when they reached my address. Citibank confirmed that this request was passed on. This time, similar to my experience with the re

Shoddy journalism #2

(Emphasis is mine, to show the mistakes) 1. Malaymail article title: "Singapore top officials say sorry to Malaysia after nationwide uproar over stand-up performer’s crack; envoy says Jocelyn Chia no longer Singaporean".  Offending sentence: "Chia’s social media accounts, including those on Instagram, no longer appear to have been removed or are no longer accessible."   2. Assorted food #2

(P.S: I had these months ago and so I forgot lots of detail).   First time I had stir-fried Sarawak Kolo Mee. It was delicious and lots of noodle. This was at Rustic Borneo Kitchen at Jalan Bahagia, Petaling Kaya. The shop was quite hot and so it's better to sit outside but that too runs the risk of hot sun or rain. Been wanting to try this burger at Medan Selera WR at Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth. It was too sweet for me. The brown sauce was already sweet and yet they added mayo. Not having it again. These were at Rutin, Bukit Mertajam. I totally forgot what were these (ooops) but they were all good. Too bad that it's pretty far from where I stay in Butterworth. Even if I'm keen to go there again, Ban wouldn't be. As for the last photo, it was Ban's attempt to stir the drinks properly (my suggestion to use the fork haha). In the end, we asked for straws. We declined them at first because we usually try not to waste them.

Digi 38 to 40?

One day, I received a call from a Digi personnel: Digi: Hi, the Digi 38 plan is no longer available. Do you want to switch to Digi 40? Me: There's no more Digi 38? Oh. Digi: Yes. Digi 40 gives more data: 30gb. Me: Not that important to me. I don't even use 1gb (in a month) currently. *I was about to say I'll scout around but this happened instead...* Digi: Ok, you can stay on Digi 38 but it has only 20gb data and need to agree to a 12-month contract. Me: Oh, sure *After we went through the process and ended the call, I told Ban about it* Me: Saje-lah said no longer available but in the end also got *laughed*. The 12-month contract is a non-isssue for me.

Dungeon Siege III: Lucas

Image
This is the last character I played in my final run. Overall, I felt it's harder than playing Reinhart but might be about the same compared to Anjali and Katarina.  Anjali has easier ways to effect crowd control but no ability to generate additional focus, compared to Lucas. She can generate focus via a talent by inflicting critical damage. Lucas has one ability and two talents to get more focus. Katarina's range abilties are better than Lucas but only for single targets. Lucas is far better at clearing mobs. I largely followed this guide for my build but changed a few things due to my own experience as well as opinion in this blog post . Abilities: proficiencies 1. Blade Dash: Lightning Precision 5 This is the second most used ability. It's great for slicing through the melee enemies to get to the ranged ones and kill the latter first. The proficiency Hemorrhage dependent on bleeding the enemies first and so I don't like it. 2. Graceful Repose: Live by the Sword 5 Wit

Best spaghetthi in Butterworth

Image
In terms of taste and value of money, it's undoubtedly those served by the pasta stall, Jonnis Pasta, at Seaview QQ Foodcourt, which is situated next to the seaside at Pantan Robina. The latest one I tried was the pandan lemon butter spaghetthi: (Unfortunately I had already eaten some before this photo was taken haha) Before this, I tried agllio olio, spicy coconut (more like stole a bit from Ban; it's his favourite) and a Japanese-themed version (can't remember the name). The first three were great! Flavourful and yet not too rich. Good portion and fresh seafood, for only RM 17. The Japanese-themed version was only so-so because the taste was hardly there. The spicy coconut and pandan lemon butter versions are special: we don't see them sold anywhere else. Best to buy on Tue, Wed or Thu. The foodcourt is super crowded on Sat and Sun (had to wait half an hour for the pasta and one hour for orr shien at another stall) and maybe on Fri too (don't dare to try), due to

Pho Vietz

I tried their beef noodle soup at their outlets at Starling Mall (PJ) and Sunway Carnival (Seberang Prai). They were both good! The soup was flavourful, unlike the mild flavour at An Viet. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photo of any of it 😅 However, I did try their lemongrass chicken dried vermicelli. It is a dish that my sister highly recommended (no, she didn't have it at Pho Vietz; it's just a general recommendation). They acceded to my request for more vegetable and it came with no extra charge. Thanks, Pho Vietz. I loved this dish: refreshing, quite flavourful, quite healthy and much cheaper than the typical Vietnamese beef noodle.
