Fifteenth session for thumb/wrist

About 2 weeks after last session, I made appointment to consult Lee again because

  • there was no improvement,
  • there was slight pain when I woke up in the morning, and
  • mixing salad using plastic utensils (at Stuff'd) triggered the pain.

As uusual, he investigated by pressing and massaging certain parts of the hand and arm and asking for feedback. He concluded that I now have De Quervain's tenosynovitis for real 😮He went on to magically make the pain disappear.

Added the following stretching and strengthening exercises, and massage:

(1) Palm facing left, with fingers side-by-side. Move thumb to palm and back x30

(2)  Palm facing left, with fingers side-by-side. Move thumb up and down x30

(3) Same as (2) but with rubber band providing resistance. Thumb moves up to the point just before pain sets in.

(4) Hold 1 kg dumbbell facing down. Move it slowly down and back to neutral x15.

(5) Use tennis ball to massage the forearm's muscle that's aligned with the thumb i.e. the brachioradialis.

Monitor for two weeks and see him again if pain worsens or there's no improvement. He also asked me to inform him the moment any exercise causes pain.
