The missing seats

After sorting out the retiming mess more than a month ago, I was checking my phone's photo album to make sure I screenshot all the relevant flights and hotels for our trip to Australia. This is just in case there's problem opening the relevant apps later to show the booking reference numbers (I don't print out anything).

Apparently I had yet to screenshot the reserved seats. So I wanted to do that but then noticed that seats were not selected for the KUL-SIN leg on the MAS flight. I checked and confirmed that seats were reserved on the original SIA flight and so by right I should be given seats upon transfer to the MAS flight.

So, once again, I used the live chat feature in the SIA app to get help. The first CSO checked and then told me that I should use the same booking reference number in the MAS app, which I did, and then asked, "Anything else by the way?" I was dumbfounded. I succintly asked why my reserved seats disappear upon the transfer and then they lost connection. I was given a case ID when I follow up with the next agent.

The second CSO said that the case ID revealed no chat history. What the hell?? So, I told them the problem. I was put on hold for quite a long while. It felt longer than the 5 minutes they asked for. Fortunately, they came back with solution: they offered to book three seats in a row for us. Phew, thank goodness. I was put on hold for another 15 minutes (they had to "check manually since this is operated by Malaysian Airlines") before they lost connection once again :(

CSO#3 lost connection shortly after I gave my name and case ID.

CSO#4 said that I had to deal with MAS. I pointed out it was SIA who moved me due to retiming issue and so shouldn't they get the seats for me too? They then checked and stated that I paid for only two seats. Looking at the original booking I made, I quoted the seats that I reserved. It was then I noticed that standard seats were complimentary. This explained everything! I apologised to them for the mixed up. They could have informed me this from the start!

There are no complimentary seats on MH flight. Meh. Since it's only an hour flight, we'll just accept randomly assigned seats when we check in.
