Tremor

My mum's hands had started trembling quite significantly from the first time she was warded at the psychiatric ward back in 2018, if I remember correctly. I was more concerned late last year when I learned that she couldn't properly use utensils to eat and would prefer to use her hand if she was at home.

So I advised her to consult the doctor at the Penaga public health clinic during the next appointment. I suspected that they would either ask her to consult Neurology or Psychiatric clinic at hospital, which turned out to be correct: they chose the former, thinking that it might be a sign of Parkinson's disease. I thought they would do some blood tests first.

I googled and told mum that it's highly like not Parkinson's disease because she doesn't exhibit its common symptoms. Meanwhile, her sister highlighted "essential tremor" to us, which fits her symptom better.

The neurologist ruled out Parkinson's Disease primarily because of the normal way she walked. He highly suspected it's a side effect of setraline. He even googled "setraline tremor". He asked us to consult the Psychiatric clinic. Upon mum's request, he also gave her a short memo to show it to the psychiatrist. If somehow Psychiatric clinic rules out setraline-induced tremor, then the it would be classified as essential tremor and mum will be given drug to manage the symptom if she feels is it affecting her daily activities significantly.

We hope that mum will adjust well if the Psychiatric clinic adjusts the dose of setraline or change the medicine.
