Hotel Indigo Katong Singapore
Recently Ban and I went on a 4D 3N vacation in Singapore, just to relax and visit friends. This time, unlike previously, I restricted to only one social outing per day. Age catching up with me :D Ban naturally can't socialise much and so previous times he was just going along with my plans.
I'm a member of IHG and I've been pleased with the stay at their various hotels so far and so usually I scout whether there's suitable hotel at our destination when we need one. My main criteria for Singapore trip is that it has to be within short walking distance of an MRT station so that I can arrange to meet friends anywhere near an MRT station.
After checking locations and reviews, I settled on Hotel Indigo Katong Singapore. This time, I paid extra to include breakfast and the for free cancellation up to a few days (think it was two?) before the arrival date.
These are the photos of the room:
Clearly, they are going for the Peranakan theme. It really made this a unique experience. It was a comfortable stay. Service was great.
My only issue, which is truly a "me" problem, was that after sleeping for 4-5 hours on the first night under the comforter, I felt hot. Tried to adjust a few things and what finally worked was me using their huge bath towel :D Unfortunately they didn't have blankets. They brought me...another comforter @@
I decided to try that because at least that cuts off heat from Ban from sharing one with him. Tried all sorts to make it work. Nothing worked. In the end, two bath towels worked. They were huge for me, thankfully.
Breakfast was at Baba Chews:
The hot food, tea, coffee and special cold drinks for only hotel guests during breakfast were ordered i.e. ala carte buffet, whereas the intercontinental breakfast was a buffett.
Both Ban and I liked the breakfast overall. I ate too much during the first one :D Only issue was that the nasi lemak tasted like normal white rice, despite having a mild smell of the coconut milk.
The pandan barley was ok. Cinnamon chai tea was great.
