Cholesterol 2018: Part 3
About three-and-half months after the last test, I retest my cholesterol level at the usual Pathlab outlet but the doctor said that the jump in level was significantly higher than expected given that my lifestyle remained or less the same (despite me admitting to eat murukku nearly every night @@).
So he suggested an immediate retest with Gribbles. The gap was a 3-day difference. The results are as follows:
May 2018 Ref. range
(Gribbles)
Total cholesterol 4.6 < 5.2
HDL ("good") 1.81 > 1.03
LDL ("bad") 2.42 < 2.58
Triglycerides 0.81 < 1.68
Total/HDL ratio 2.5 < 5.0
Aug 2018 Ref. range Aug 2018 Ref. range
(Pathlab) (Gribbles)
Total cholesterol 5.1 < 5.2 4.8 < 5.2
HDL ("good") 1.55 > 1.04 1.58 > 1.03
LDL ("bad") 3.2 < 2.6 2.75 < 2.58
Triglycerides 0.8 < 1.7 1.02 < 1.68
Total/HDL ratio 3.3 < 5.0 2.75 < 5.0
Both results are similar: total cholesterol and LDL went up (the latter went above the limit), while HDL went down. Not good.
The doctor advised me to continue taking fenofibrate on alternate nights.
