Cholesterol 2024: Part 2
Here are the results compared to 4 months ago:
Jan 2024 Ref May 2024 Ref
Total cholesterol 5.6 < 5.2 5.3 <5.2
HDL ("good") 1.73 > 1.04 1.61 >1.04
LDL ("bad") 3.3 < 2.6 3.2 < 2.6
Triglycerides 1.3 < 1.7 1.1 <1.7
Total/HDL ratio 3.2 < 5.0 3.3 < 5.0
Non-HDL 3.9 < 3.4 3.7 <3.4
The good news is that everything went down. More importantly, LDL is still below 4 and total cholesterol is below 6, which is good enough according to the doctor, given my lifestyle and assessed low comorbidity risk.
The not-so-good news is that HDL also went down but it's still significantly higher than the referenced value. This might be because of decrease in exercise intensity: I have stopped swimming for about 3 weeks before the test because it caused my golfer's elbow to flare up. It's a temporary measure. Meanwhile, my usual afternoon/night exercise is replaced with mostly brisk walking on treadmill plus a few minutes of stairs climbing.
