Atlas Reactor: Dr Finn revised

Image
There's a slight adjustment to my previous build : (read this wikia for details on abilities and mods) (1) Water Spout - Catch of the Day (1 loadout point) (2) Refreshing Spray - Self Fish (2 loadout points) (3) Electrifying Eels - That's a Moray (3 loadout points) (4) Bubble Trouble - Unstop-Bubble (1 loadout point) (5) Maelstrom - Leech Infestation (3 loadout points) The difference is the change from Cast Away to Unstop-Bubble for Bubble Trouble. Unstoppable trait is becoming more important because more freelancers have knockback ability. So that means there is one leftover loadout point which is then allocated to Catch of the Day for Water Spout. Energy mod is never bad and also often there is only one enemy target, thereby you'll often gain value out of this mod. Below is a video of a recent gameplay. The contribution scores were generally high despite it being a turn 20 game (usually such scores are from "overtime" games). I also had my very fir...

New symptoms

About 3 weeks after radiotherapy , my dad finally could make do without the walker but still needed the walking stick every now and then. There was a new symptom though: pins-and-needles sensation i.e. the one that you get if you've been sitting in a cramped manner for too long. It lasted only for a few days though. His back started to ache too, which he managed by taking paracetamol (increased until the max 6 per day). We were not too sure what caused it because it was confounded by the fact that his posture was compromised by using the walking stick continuously for two weeks (and only on one hand), before he switched to the walker upon the advice of the hospice nurse. Another bad news: his CA 19.9 marker had shot up to 251 :( On the next appointment date (on a Friday), the palliative care unit (PCU) specialist attended to my dad, followed by the oncologist. In summary, The fact that paracetamol relieved his back pain could indicate cancer of the bone but on the other han...

Vacation dejavu

However, the same thing happened again : she could sleep on Monday night but not on Tuesday night. Her blood pressure steadily increased from 140 to 176 (but there was a dip in the middle to 150). I gave her hypertension/heart medicine, Bisoprolol, at about 3.40am but an hour later, there was hardly any difference. So after consulting with the ward staff, we brought her back to the ward at 5.30am.  This time though, the on-call doctor spoke with us. He highly suspected that her sleeplessness was due to napping too much in the morning (2hrs+) and in the afternoon (2hrs+). He suggested at most 30mins nap in the morning and another 30mins in the afternoon. My dad also informed him that mum said she was thinking about "when will this be over?". At this point, the doctor remeasured her bp: it dropped significantly to 141. Doctor said we could bring her back for one more night but advised us to get her involved in some household chores so as not to feel "bored" and...

Vacation and then

Nothing untoward happened on Friday and most of Saturday when my mum was here during her home " vacation ". She slept a lot. Still blur i.e. couldn't remember some things or how to operate certain things (temporary side effect of ECT) but she could (re)learn. She ate well, especially at the Japanese restaurant for dinner. However, she had trouble sleeping on Saturday night. We tried various non-medicinal ways to make it comfortable for her to sleep e.g. switch on radio, changed pillow (she said not comfortable), rest in the living room (she used to do that previously when she couldn't sleep in the room) but none work. I asked her to just lie down and close her eyes. Just rest and not stressed over not able to sleep. Then I went to bed. The next morning, dad told me that mum had high blood pressure i.e. 180+. He mistakenly thought there was no hypertension medicine for mum whereas mum tried describing the shape of the medicine to him. She was right: it was one of t...

Atlas Reactor: Helio

Image
Here are the current mods I'm using for Helio: (read here for details of abilities and mods) (1) Echo Hammer - Magnetized (1 loadout point) All the mods are good, depending on your playstyle, except maybe Defensive Conduit as it gives too little shield. Magnetized is great vs invisible enemies, including those who use Fade catalyst. (2) Blast Shield - Power Share (3 loadout points) At first glance, one may think that it's quite hard to choose which mod because all the mods are pretty good. However, consider this: cast Black Hole Generator ("BH") on team mate on turn 2 and move sufficiently close to place Disruption Matrix ("Wall") on turn 3. On Turn 3, highly likely Helio can be hit by enemies. Cast Blast Shield with Power Share mod on himself and place the Wall. Enemies hit by BH and the Wall will be subjected to greater damage (because of Power Share) while Blast Shield mitigates incoming damage. In short, this mod enables this defensive abilit...

During ECT

ECT continued beyond the 6th successful response because the specialist opined mum needed another 2 or 3 more positive response. After the 5th one, there was a glimmer of hope: there was a small chance that she could be discharged after a week. At that time, she was no longer on anti-anxiety medicine (Lorazepam) but given on as-needed basis. Olanzapine was cut down to 5mg three times daily. Later, she was more "disturbed" at night and so the night dose was increased to 10mg and had to be restrained for 1 to 2 hours during two nights. There were more "up" days than "down" i.e. she was generally improving. She still had urges to hurt herself but could be stopped easily by nurses or us and so that was probably why she was allowed into the visitor's area. Later, we learned that it wasn't enough that there was a response to ECT: a certain level of response was also needed. Hence, the number of positive response was extended beyond the minimum 6 i...

Bank vs Aviation

"I envy aviation regulators for one advantage they have over financial regulators: that the desire passengers of planes have for a safe flight is highly aligned with those flying the plane. Pilots have no incentive to take off in an unsound plane," he said.  If a plane crashes, killing all on board, the pilot dies too. But if a bank collapses, it is the shareholders, bondholders and depositors (and potentially taxpayers) who wear the cost, while the staff and executives whose risky behaviour caused the failure walk away, often retaining large bonuses they earned in the process. - Wayne Bryes, chairman of APRA

Kinpachi: something new

Image
Kinpachi has become my favourite place to celebrate special occasions just for Ban and I, notably our anniversary . Recently, we went day there for Valentine's Day and this time, instead of the usual salmon sushi , I decided to try their salmon avocado roll. I totally forgot that it usually comes with a sauce poured on it, Thousand Island sauce in this case. I usually don't like having such sauce and would just want to dip it in soy sauce (with wasabi applied on it beforehand). Its rice was more sour than that used in nigiri sushi; not to my liking unfortunately. It was surprisingly slight spicy, which I didn't mind. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't order it again because normal salmon sushi is so much better :)

Pre and during ECT

On the night before ECT , my mum's night dosage of Olanzapine was increased from 2.5mg to 5mg, making it a total of 10mg for the whole day (morning 2.5mg, afternoon, 2.5mg). According to the doctor, she managed to sleep quite well that night. My mum disputed that though @@ There were no issues arising on the first day of ECT. They started at a low electrical "energy" level (4%). There was no response (brain's wavelength? something like that). Then tried 8%. Still nothing. Stopped because doing it only twice in a day. They would repeat this on the next odd weekday, after having a team discussion on which energy level to try next. In the meantime, we were told that when mum was restrained on the bed to prevent her from banging her head on the floor, she knocked her hands' knuckles on the bed frame. The nurses treated the wound, wrapped her hand with towels and lastly a clear plastic. That was the condition she was in when I visited her. Once again, the staff the...
