Cholesterol 2021: Part 1

Results as compared to 4 months ago:                                 Sep 2020        Jan 2021          Ref. range Total cholesterol           5.1                 4.9                  < 5.2 HDL ("good")               1.89              1.81                > 1.04 LDL ("bad")                  2.9                2.8                 < 2.6 Triglycerides                 0.6                0.7                 < 1.7 Total/HDL ratio            2.7                 2.7                  < 5.0 So it's more or less the same, right? Or optimistically can say it improved. Here's the weird part though:  (1) During that four months, I took Fenofibrate daily for 2 months and then on alternate days for the remaining two months. (2) Less (rigorus) exercise because couldn't swim due to CMCO and MCO restrictions. (3) No change to diet.

Snail mail

This was how long it took for a registered mail to reach Singapore:                                                 😲😬

Sheep

One night, just when we were about to sleep, Ban went out to do one last thing on his computer (quite important). After quite sometime, I went out to get him. Turned out that he was doing one more thing, as I guessed. Me: You are like a sheep. Have to shepherd you. Ban: But I'm a sheep who loves you. Baaaaa. 😂💓

MCO 2.0 survival tips

This was a list, each item broadly defined, that I came up with on the spot when asked: (1) Eat healthily most of the time, must indulge every now and then 😛 (2) Chat with people at least every now and then (3) Exercise. Difficult, I know, but making it a habit will make it easier (4) Create something: write, cook, art or anything that stimulate your brain e.g. discussion, solve puzzles (5) Adequate sleep (6) Leisure (probably the easiest haha) (7) Doing nothing for 5-10 mins, multiple times a day. Mind just go blank. Even better if can incorporate deep breathing.

Paladins: Ying update

Image
Although Life Exchange Ying is the gold standard for healing, I am not good at it because it requires aiming when using Shatter to heal.  However, I later remember something about the Resonance build I followed . The idea is to do more damage and to take Morale Boost and so use the ultimate ability (extra healing) more often, to make up the lack of healing (as compared to Life Exchange build). Of course, the damage from Resonance talent also helps team to whittle down the enemies.  I'm having fun playing Ying again. I'm often apprehensive about teammates being unhappy with my choice. Thankfully that occurred only once but thereafter I muted everyone for a couple of matches or so, to fully concentrate on playing. The build is as follows; Spring Bloom - 5 Spring Forward - 4 Efficiency - 3 Carry On - 2 Rewind - 1 (for more details, refer to this gamespedia )  Here are some gameplays.

Paladins: Barik update

Image
Recently Barik was buffed: addtional 6oo hp! That's equivalent to 4 points in the card 'Brave and Bold'. Hence I tweaked my CDR build by transferring a couple of points from that card to 'Field Deploy' and 'Healing Station': (refer to this gamespedia for more details) Field Deploy - 3 One Man's Scrap - 4 Healing Station - 3 Brave and Bold - 2 Double-Time - 3 I love it. This build is now my default choice, replacing the turret build . Here are some gameplays:

The Untamed

Image
" The series follows the adventures of two soulmate cultivators who travel to solve a series of mysteries that link to a tragic event in the past. " (from Wikipedia). The Untamed was a series that Ban came across and thought it something we could watch together. This live action version is, to me, technically a bromance but it's based on a BL web novel. It seems that Ban had never watched a proper Chinese drama series i.e. the kind that runs for like 40+ episodes. So watching The Untamed was a first for him. Around halfway through, he did complain a little (e.g. "Too many named characters.") but surprisingly stuck with it till the end, a total of 50 episodes! We both loved it :)

Healthier cereal

Image
Many cereal, especially the popular ones, are actually unhealthy: they have high amount of sugar (17 - 23%) and some of them have a long list of non-plant based ingredients. In fact, for any food, the shorter the list of ingredient, the closer it is resembling its natural (therefore more nutritious) form. One day, I decided to hunt for cereal for my light supper (eaten together with milk), as a replacement for pineapple tarts / cakes @@, I came across this gem: (sorry for the poor photo quality) It has only 6 ingredients, of which 81% of it is the cereal. Only 7.1% of sugar. Downside is that it's significantly more expensive than the normal cornflakes. Still, it was worth it because I only had a little of it for supper and so it lasted for quite sometime. Later, I couldn't find it (at Jaya Grocer but at a different outlet) but came across another gem: Only 5 ingredients. 8% sugar. Bonus: locally made! So it's cheaper than Freedom's cornflake but still more expensive tha

Colour puzzle

Image
Recently Ban got some parts of the place patched up and repainted. Understandably, it wasn't possible to get the exact colour as the original and so the contractor asked us to choose it from a Jotun paint chip card. So that part was crystal clear. What surprised us was that the actual paint was markedly different from that in the card:
