Dungeon Siege III: Anjali

I realise that a good way to determine how to build up characters in this game is to look for proficiencies and talents that help to generate even more focus and power, the two resources you use in combat. Normally you gain focus by using basic attack and power by using abilities. You need focus to use abilities and power to use defensive abilities and empowered version of abilities. So, the faster you generate these resources, the more often you can use these goodies.

The final build I used for Anjali was based on what I gleaned mainly from 3 suggested builds. Here it is:

Abilities: proficiencies

1. Spinning Kick: Crushing Impact 5

I tried following a detailed guide that favoured damage but changed my mind and I'm glad I did: those stuns were so helpful againts those swarm of hard-hitting mooks.

2. Inner Warmth: Rejuvenating Spark 5

This build benefits a lot from healing as Anjali will melee very often.

3. Hurl Spear: Incendiary Javelin 5

Used this range ability mainly against bosses. More damage is better since stun wouldn't work on them.

4. Ignite: Everlasting Flame 5

Combination of this ability (with this proficiency) with Spinning Kick and Fall From the Heavens worked well on swarm of enemies and did lots of damage when combined with Hurl Spear (Incendiary proficiency)

5. Fall From the Heavens: Thunderous Descent 5

Cc (crowd control) is great againts swarm of enemies, especially when you fall on them.

6. Volatile Barrier: Shround of Radiance 5

Great to use this after using Fall From the Heavens. Will explain a little more later.

After getting these, sink in proficiency points into whichever other ability you use often. For me, I decided to put in those extra points in Aura of Immolation's Fiery Presence and so sometimes I used that abiliy and lured enemies into it and fought/dodged around it to get them stay in it as long as possible.

Talents

Radiant Will 5 (priority)

Spiritual Devastation 5

Phoenix Warmth 5

Militancy 5 (priority)

Radiance 5

Fury of Fire 5

Brutality 5

The order of which you spend your points depend a lot on your playstyle. Just spend on those that help you the most at that moment.

This build has a number of ways effect cc and healing. Militancy is the way to get more focus. Unfortunately, there is no extra way to generate more power and so you will need to rely on using abilities to do that but that shouldn't be an issue given how often focus is generated. Also, I personally don't use the empowered version of any abilities. Those powers were better used for defensive abilities.

When going against formidable group of enemies or a boss or a combination of these, do this:

1. Use Ignite. If there's a boss and you have a clear shot at them, use Hurl Spear at them.

2. Immediately Fall From the Heavens on them.

3. Immediately activate Volatile Barrier.

4. Spinning Kick to stun non-boss enemies.

5. Rinse and repeat.

6. If low on focus, back off and switch to Fire Form. Use basic attack to gain focus.

Prioritise Agility to get at least around 35% critical chance so that Militancy will proc more often. Thereafter, split between Will and Attack.
