D&D novel

Even though Atlas Reactor is gone, I still keep in touch with some of my online friends I met in the game. TheJoker is one of them. At various points of time, even while Atlas Reactor was around, we played other games together for a while e.g. Paladin, Battlerite, Overwatch and Minion Masters.

Recently, due to the possibility that our newly found 4th player (a real life friends of ours) may not make it for Ban's D&D 5e campaign (he's always on call, as a specialist), Ban wanted a 5th player. We were waiting for confirmation from a friend that his friend or nephew migh want to join. So with this caveat, I decided to ask TheJoker, after getting permission from Ban, since now that we're playing remotely a third party web-based software

He was interested but have never played at tabletop RPG.

Joker: So i have no idea how to even start dnd. I'll just be a bearded human male specialising in the art of beard magic and the beard gives me max charisma.
Me: Hmmm shall I send u the basic rules first? Haha well, u can try to get the GM to allow that.
Joker: Yeah, the basic rules might help.

(once he received the 114-page long document ...)

Joker: THIS IS BASIC RULES? Wow this is like a ****ing novel.
Me: Dun worry too much about it. If u do join us, we can walk through with u a few basic rules before the session but feel free to read the novel and ask me any questions u have.
Joker: I really dont think i will be reading this biography. How will i play if i read this? I wont be done for 20 years.
Me: U're smart, u can make it work. Maybe start with chapters 7, 8 and 9.
Joker: I'll reserve like 12 hours a day and maybe ill get done by my 30th birthday.
Me: Haha. No worries.

Well, too bad he won't be joining us because our friend's nephew will be joining as the 5th player.

Update: He joined us after all, replacing a player who later said he couldn't commit to the stipulated time.
